Aliyev confirms Baku's plans to increase gas supply to Europe to 20 bcm in 2027

BAKU. May 7 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has confirmed plans to increase Azerbaijani gas exports to the European Union to 20 billion cubic meters in 2027.

"[The Azerbaijani gas] supply to Europe will grow from 8 billion cubic meters in 2021 to 12 billion cubic meters this year. This is precisely half of the total gas exports of Azerbaijan. We plan to increase the gas supply to EU member states alone to 20 billion cubic meters in 2027. I believe we will achieve that," Aliyev said at a joint press briefing with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Baku on Tuesday.

As reported, Azerbaijan increased gas exports 5.3% to 23.8 billion cubic meters, including 11.8 billion cubic meters supplied to Europe (up 3.5%), in 2023.

Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Serbia are the current buyers of Azerbaijani gas in Europe. Some other European countries have also expressed an interest in buying Azerbaijani gas.
