Zelensky suggests Rada should extend martial law, total mobilization

MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - Ukraine's President Vladimir Zelensky has suggested that the Verkhovnaya Rada should extend the period of martial law and total mobilization, Ukrainian media reported on Monday, citing the parliamentary website.

According to explanatory notes to draft legislation, Zelensky is proposing to extend the May 14, 2024 deadline of nationwide martial law and mobilization by 90 days.

Martial law will be prolonged beginning at 05:30 a.m. on May 14, the notes said.

Ukraine declared martial law and total mobilization on February 24, 2022.
