Turkmenistan's GDP up 6.3% in January-April 2024 - president

ASHGABAT. May 6 (Interfax) - Turkmenistan's GDP grew 6.3% in January-April 2024 year on year, the Neutral Turkmenistan official newspaper reported on Saturday, citing President Serdar Bedimuhamedov as saying at a government meeting last Friday.

Addressing the meeting's participants, Berdimuhamedov said the outcomes of the work done in the first four months of the year demonstrated the success of the program being pursued, including 6.3% GDP growth, the newspaper said.

The Turkmen industrial sector grew in this period by 3.7%, the transport sector by 7.2%, consumer services by 8%, trade by 8.2%, construction by 5.8%, and agriculture by 5%, he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Hojamyrat Geldimyradov said at the meeting that production in the first four months of 2024 grew by 11.4% and retail trade by 11.1% year on year.

The revenue section of the state budget in January-April 2024 was implemented at 102.6% and expenditures at 97.4%, he said.

"Salaries in the country's large and medium-sized organizations in January-April were higher on average by 10.4%, and salaries, pensions, government allowances, and college stipends were financed in time," Geldimyradov said.

The volume of funds assimilated in the first four months of the year grew by 23.9% compared to the same period last year, he said.
